Design hotel in Genoa
A special place to spend your holiday, a design hotel in the heart of Genoa.
The Hotel Bologna is unique of its kind.
It has an enviable position, right in the city centre, but at the same time away from the bustle, ensuring peace and relaxation to our guests, surrounded by the majestic Palazzi dei Rolli.
But above all, what makes the Hotel Bologna special is its bedrooms.
An idea born of a passion, which has developed into a continuously evolving concrete project: a design hotel in the heart of Genoa, to enjoy the city in a different way.
Those who love design and vintage will find in the hotel Bologna furniture and accessories that are original, eccentric, some very refined, collected by the proprietor over the years, in a blend of different lines and styles that match and combine harmoniously with made-to-measure features.
Choose the room that most arouses your curiosity and enjoy it to the full, discovering all its details. Let yourself be coddled by the different features, materials and colours.
You will be able to settle into on an authentic Bugatti Chair, in leather with a vintage look, built to pay homage to the legendary 1938 Bugatti Type 57 SC Atlantic, a luxury car with a sinuous shape designed for a limited circle of fortunate people. Its double arms in stainless steel will enclose you between the seat and the back made in antiqued whiskey-coloured leather. A large art piece that combines elegant design with pure comfort. Also the celebrated fashion designer Ralph Lauren has one, but you don’t have to go all the way to his home to see it… it’s waiting for you in Wood Room 33 of the Hotel Bologna, Genoa!
If you’re fascinated by the most contemporary styles and bright colours, in Wood Room 23 you will find an acid green Raviolo Chair, designed by Ron Arad for Magis in 2011 and made in polythene. A design in rotational moulding, created with a continuous ribbon made up of two definite textures for the inside and outside, which appears puffed up like the filled pasta, just like ravioli!
The Baroque room and the Romantic room could not be without the very famous Kartell coloured plastic chairs, accompanied by modular items of the same line, which have now become a classic of design.
The spaces of the Cosmopolitan Room have been designed to recall cosmopolitan cities full of life. Here, to dominate the scene, is a Barcelona Chair, the armchair by the designer Mies Van Der Rohe, built with a structure in cold-drawn flat chromed steel, with support straps in leather of the same colour as the covering. The seat and back are padded and have a squared leather covering fixed with buttons. An X-shaped steel bar makes up the basic structure, while 9 steel strips form the support for the seat and the back.
The Barcelona armchair, also know as the Mies Pavilion Lounge Chair, was exhibited for the first time for the king and queen of Spain… a truly royal armchair.
The armchair today is an essential piece of modern classic design and is a perfect example of Van Der Rohe’s minimal style, enriched in this case by features of ‘regal opulence’.
That’s not the end of the surprises in this room: next to the bed, your rest will be accompanied by two 1970s wooden bedside tables by Claudio Salocchi.
For enthusiasts of design and furniture or simply for those who want the experience of a special stay in a “design hotel”, the Hotel Bologna awaits you in Genoa to amaze you with its wonders.
